2016, What a year it has been!

December is a month where I pause and reflect on the year. Take stock of what I did and didn't do. I had planned to share my post about "Why do you do what you do", until I came across this great idea from blogger Phumeza Langa https://onmogul.com/stories/2016-live-learn-love-grow-and-survive and i decided to give it a try. Hope you give it a try too. 1. What did you do in 2016 that you'd never done before? I cant think of anything new that i did that i have never done before. 2. Did you keep your new years resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I did not keep all my 2016 goals and yes I will make more for 2017. I have already started.  3. How will you be spending your New Year's Eve? At church with my husband and mother. 4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes, my dad . My late dad and I. 5. What countries did you visit this year? None, but was still fortunate to go on a couples retreat in the Western Cape. 6. What would you like to

Now that he's gone, I missed him

It was 23h45 when we received a call that my father had passed on. B asked how am I, I said I am okay, turned around and went back to sleep. But I couldn’t sleep after hearing that my father is no more. I was confused. I thought of my gran and my brother because they were the closest to him. I started thinking about when exactly should I go home. Maybe a day before the funeral? I wasn’t too sure. The first person I called was my brother who didn’t answer his phone. Then I called my mother and we spoke for a while. I then called my cousin, my dad’s first niece who explained what really happened and that my brother found him. I wept. I wept so hard at the thought that my father died alone. I wept at the thought of what my brother experienced. I wept knowing that the text message I sent him the night before, he never got to read it because by then, he was already gone. It was so painful and it hurt. Only then it hit me that I had lost my father. B and I left immediately

Will be back soon

Hi Friends,  I am on a three month( July; August and September) break.  “This is our goal as writers, I think; to help others have this sense of–please forgive me–wonder, of seeing things anew, things that can catch us off guard, that break in on our small, bordered worlds. When this happens, everything feels more spacious." I still want to continue to write in depth posts and that takes perfecting my writing skill, clear mind and sharing my life experiences through words.

Where the birthing of the union is sustained

As I was prepping for my new post for the month, I came  across  my prayer list Bongani and i had drafted whilst we were still courting We drafted this a month after we met and it continued to grow. Going through it made me realise how faithful God was. I decided to share this with you so you are also encouraged to draw up your own personal prayer list. "Everything that is birthed through prayer, will be sustained by prayer."    Bongani and Temogo's prayer items 1.        Prayer of thanksgiving: 1Chro6v8-13; Deut8 ·          Thanking God for allowing our paths to meet and do life together. ·          Grateful for His protection and guidance in this long distance relationship. ·          Thanking Him for continually developing fruit of the Spirit in us, and striving for a pure relationship that is pleasing to the Lord. Song of Songs3v5 ·          Thankful for our families and Him joining the two families together. ·          Grateful for good

I grew up in a Christian home. We never practiced cultural things or cultural rituals. It was a traditional Christian home where we went to church and prayed and, I enjoyed church. I had a few crushes here and there and never remembered any of the sermons preached at church, but I really enjoyed singing hymns and church conferences. In a nutshell, that was me spiritually. I recall in 2002, Rhema bible church had their school ministry team visit our school for a whole week. They spoke of Jesus and giving your life to Christ, but somehow I didn’t quite get it and felt it was for those who did not go to church and are not Christian. I went to church occasionally so they were not speaking to me. All I was focusing on was the handsome boys the ministry team came with and wanted to get their numbers. I did get some guy’s number, and he was cool and all, but everything he spoke about was my relationship with Jesus. Little did I know that he was concerned about my soul when I was

A Sudden Revival

Below is one of the short stories i wrote for a writing competition i entered last year. Thought i should share it with you. Hope you enjoy it.  She felt like she was suffocating as her mother squeezed her in her arms. She never was affectionate from a young age. “Mom, you can let go now, I am not moving to another country, I’m only moving to another province.” “I know but the house is never going to be the same without you, I feel like I’m losing my girl.” Lisa’s mother said as she looked into her eyes whilst stroking her arms. Lisa was moving out of home. The only home she ever knew since she was as young as she was able to know that the boxes that human beings live in, is called a house. Her mother firmly holds her right hand and walks her out the door, “Go before I ask you to sleep home one more night.” Mother kisses her forehead, opens the driver’s door and quickly peeks through the driver’ window. “Baby, remember God will never leave nor forsake you. We may be far, but He
